Dermalogica Peel

Most of us are known to the fact after researching on the internet for hours or after talking with the people that generally, chemical peel involves pain, redness and obnoxious amounts of skin peeling. Some of the people who are aware of this fact, they even feel sometimes that if there is no pain or abundant peeling, then the peel wasn't a good peel. That is not always the case but most of the time yes it is!

Due to this knowledge, many clients demand overly aggressive peels or skin resurfacing treatments with the hopes that chemical peels will reduce their signs of premature aging and they can achieve a younger looking skin. If we count side effects of these treatments, most notably side effect is inflammation. Why? Because they actually age the skin more by damaging the delicate skin structure at the layers which are associated with the cell birth. If we consider undergoing chemical peel treatment, BioActive™ Peel is designed to deliver all the benefits without the skin damage, scarring and give effective results with minimal downtime.

Pre – Peel Considerations

As a general rule, it is good practice to discontinue the use of prescribed exfoliations by your consulted skin doctor, at least 48 hours prior the chemical peel procedure and during BioActive Peel treatments. Patients are recommended to not had any facial waxing within the past 72 hours before the procedure. The BioActive Peel is not recommended during the pregnancy.

Process

BioActive peel works via a layering technique. In common, it's a 45-60 minute session. This is a breakdown of the layering technique steps:

1. The Prep Solution is a dynamic complex that helps to maximize the penetration of the peeling agents. 20% Salicylic acid leaves the skin soft, smooth and free of inflammation – the perfect canvas for the ultimate peel.

2. The Enzyme Active utilizes pumpkin and papaya enzymes (AHA's). To loosen the "glue" that binds dead skin cells to new skin cells, which make the skin look dull and trap excess oil. Sayonara, ugly skin cells!

3. The Acid Active (AKA the "main event") has 30% lactic acid and 15% TCA. It can be layered to a maximum of five times depending on the condition of the skin and wanted results. During this time of the procedure, your skin is carefully monitored to ensure safe and optimal skin resurfacing results.

4. Finally, the De-celerator halts the exfoliation process, decreases the activity of the acids and normalizes the epidermis. It does this while calming and igniting the process of skin repair. Green tea, Oat Leaf Extract, and Cucumber are the perfect ingredients for soothing and repairing.

The Immediate Results

Immediately after BioActive, most clients look radiant and refreshed. In fact, some clients leave less red than when they walked in. Your skin will definitely feel tighter and firmer immediately after this skin resurfacing treatment.

Longer-Term Results

Many clients have reported a glowing skin, improved elasticity and significant improvement in overall skin tone. As with any skin care regimen, results can take anywhere from 2 – 4 weeks to show as this is how long it takes for skin to renew itself. Patients may expect improved and effective results when the BioActive is done in a series as recommended by your skin specialist. They may also experience slight peeling in certain areas after the two or three of the treatment, however, this won't cause any pain or discomfort. Results after the chemical peel treatment usually depend upon the condition of the patient's skin and how frequently they receive BioActive skin resurfacing treatments.

Post Peel Insights

Patients should wear a recommended sunscreen cream when they exposed to the sun immediately following the treatment and for almost 3 weeks after the procedure to reduce the chances of side effects.

On the day of the treatment, you should avoid strenuous exercise or prolonged exposure to heat sources such as dry saunas and steam rooms. The increased circulation could lead to increased sensitivity, itching/prickling, redness, inflammation or swelling.

Although you will see good results from one BioActive treatment, a series of 3 – 6 (twice per year) will return optimal results. For Aging/Pigmentation/Acne we at Dadu Medical Centre located in Delhi, Vasant Vihar (South Delhi), Rajouri Garden (West Delhi), recommend the chemical peels 2 – 4 weeks apart. For sensitive skin, 3 – 4 weeks apart is recommended. Remember that your skin concerns may have occurred over several years. Therefore, it makes sense that they cannot be eliminated in one quick session.
